The charming little mountain village of Imlil is the crossing point to all the hikers who wish to reach the 4167 m high (Toubkal), the 22 highest mountain in Africa after Kilimanjaro. Located 64 Km from Marrakech, Imlil is also a gateway to the great of the Toubkal National Park… The magical site of Imlil is the starting point for many hikes, it’s a wonderful place for those who would walk in the Massif of the Toubkal. You will absolutely enjoy the various ups and downs of the mountains bordering the entrance of the Moroccan Atlas. Between astonishment and wonder, you can make a jump to Asni. You will discover the charm of imlil where the climate is temperate and the natural landscape and wonderful. In Imlil you will do a small hike of 1 H 30 and admire the beautiful landscapes and Berber villages. After crossing the gorges of Asni, picturesque village known for its weekly souk on Saturday, the road goes on along a verdant Valley where the mountains, impressive natural strongholds, play with colors… mid-slope villages of Berbers to nesteled tp Earth houses surrounded by terracing. We leave Marrakech to Imlil at 70 km of paved road of Marrakech. Meeting with the muleteers, baggage loading and beginning of hiking. We pass next to the village of Aremd (1900 m) 15 minutes of Imlil. We continue towards Sidi Shamharoush, wonderful Berber villages.cultures on the terrace, irrigation canals… Picnic lunch. Night in the Neltner refuge.
The ascent of the highest peak of Morocco is done without any major difficulty. A stony path goes near the shelter, then it gets more narrow, crowded Valley big blocks. The final way is wide and goes down gradually to approach the Summit plunging yet in great cliffs on Ifni Lake on opposite side. Picnic lunch along the way. A nice descent takes us from arid mountain to the irrigated valleys that pass by Sidi Chamharoush to the beautiful cultivated replat of Aremd. End of the trekking in Imlil where our minibus leads us in a short time on Marrakech; along the way a few displays of minerals of the presahariens massifs (Amethyst, Galena, gypsum…) waiting for the barge.
