This 3-day tour takes you from Marrakech deep into the heart of the Sahara Desert, specifically to the iconic golden dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga—not the smaller, rocky dunes of Zagora. You’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, visit the UNESCO-listed kasbah of Ait Benhaddou, and wind through the Valley of the Roses and the dramatic Dades Gorges. The second day features the towering rock walls of Todra Gorges before reaching Merzouga, where you’ll ride a camel into the vast Erg Chebbi dunes for a night in a desert camp with dinner, drumming, and stargazing. On the final day, you’ll wake to a spectacular sunrise over the dunes before driving back to Marrakech through the lush Draa Valley with its endless palm groves and historic kasbahs. This is a longer, more desert-focused journey than the Zagora trip, offering true Sahara dunes and a more immersive experience.
Morning pick up from your hotel or riad in Marrakech at 07:00 a.m, then you start your journey heading to ouarzazate through the high atlas mountains ( 2260 m) taking the mountain , the largest mountain chain in North Africa that is an ideal place for anyone who enjoys hiking, mountain climbing or breathtaking natural scenery. Stops on the way. Then we proceed towards the kasbah ait benhaddou. It is Recognized as a UNESCO site, the Ksar Aït Benhaddou in Ouarzazate is one of the most extraordinary Kasbahs in Morocco.
This giant fortification, which is made up of six kasbahs and nearly fifty ksours (individual kasbahs), is a great example of pisé clay architecture..It is a very old village with its kasbah, beautiful Heritage site by UNESCO. Then we proceed to ouarzazate. After lunch in Ouarzazate we head towards the Dades Gorge through the Skoura Oasis where there are numerous ancient Kasbahs, many in ruins and surrounded by palm trees. Going through Kela’a M’gouna which is known as the Valley o Roses. Rose oil and beauty products are produced here from the beautiful smelling roses that grow profusely. Your over night stop will be in a hotel by the river in the Dades Gorge on half board.
After breakfast,we will proceed the tour towards Tinghir then to Todra Gorges. You will have the chance to stop for a panoramic view of the river. Continuing on the road alongside the river to reach the gorges where you will have a break for lunch. Walking on foot through this stunning place while enjoying the views of high rock walls.
Afterwards, we drive to Merzouga passing by Tinjdad, Erfoud,You may have a stop in Erfoud to visit one of the marble fossils Carriers then continue to your hotel situated on the foots of the orange dunes of Erg Chebbi. You will experience a camel ride to reach the desert camp in the middle of dunes where you will spend the night, enjoy your evening, dine under the stars and overnight in bivoauc on half board
Morning wake up to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes, then destination Marrakech through alnif ,Tazarine, N’kob , Tansikht. The road from Merzouga to Tazarine passes through beautiful desert scenary and mountain landscapes, Oasis, Kasbahs…up to the Draa Valley through N’koub and Tansikht. On the way we’ll visit the Tamnougalt Kasbah and the Draa palm groves. Drive to Ouarzazate and back to your hotel in Marrakech here our Marrakech to Desert tour ends.
